China has become the world’s largest manufacturer and a significant player in the global industrial ecological chain after 30 years of rapid growth. Yet the Chinese government is troubled by the long-term issue of industrial transformation and upgrading due to historical problems of less developed industrial technologies and structural issues. In the era of globalization, integration of international industrial chains offer new opportunities for not only China’s industrial transformation and upgrading, but for the growth of overseas companies as well. International industrial players and investors who have spotted such opportunities have tried to strike deals in recent years by direct communication between suppliers and demanders, which unfortunately, turned out to be unsuccessful due to different cultures and national conditions. Based on in-depth studies of the changes in international industrial chains, this forum introduced the model of systematic matchmaking along international industrial chains which was widely recognized for its role in breaking bottlenecks in industrial collaboration between China and other countries.
